Dublin's style is in Vogue for glitzy event

Paris, Milan, New York, and er, Dundrum. The first three names may be synonymous with fashion, but Dublin is officially one of the world's most stylish places -- according to Vogue.

The style bible has finally given Ireland its stamp of approval with the capital's very own Fashion Night Out.

Harvey Nichols will be hosting the Dublin branch of the international event, which runs in 16 different countries.

American Vogue editor Anna Wintour created Fashion Night Out last year in order to inject some fun back into shopping.

A number of celebratory events are taking place world-wide on Wednesday, with a string of our style stars stepping out here, including fashion guru Brendan Courtney, model agent Celia Holman Lee, and former Xpose star Lorraine Keane.

Courtney told the Herald that it shows that Irish style has come on in recent years.

"It's only the second year of the event and for a small capital to do it, I think we got on board pretty quickly," he said.

"I think it's really a great thing and Harvey Nichols Dundrum were very much on it."

A spokesperson for Harvey Nichols explained: "We'll also be hosting our fall/winter fashion show that night as well as our fifth birthday celebrations, so there's lots to celebrate."

The New York event will see the city's largest ever public runway show with Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bundchen and Adriana Lima taking the stage.
