Doctors happy about Dad – Christy's girl

BRIDE-to-be Kiera Dignam has spoken of her joy at the improving condition of her dad.

In just over three weeks, Aslan singer Christy Dignam will give daughter Kiera away at her wedding to long-term partner Darren Moran.

And her popular dad is now looking well enough to walk her down the aisle, posing outside his Dublin home to prove it.

"Dad was sick for so long but he looks better now than he has in a long time," Kiera told the Herald.

Although still waiting the results of full body scans which he underwent in the UK last month, the 52-year-old has been making steady progress as he undergoes chemotherapy for two blood cancers – amyloidosis and myeloma.

"Dad did have a slight setback two weeks ago but he is going at it one day at a time. The doctors are very happy with his progress," she added.

Blessed with the same vocal talents as her dad, Kiera will have a chance to sing alongside some of the biggest names in music when they perform at A Night For Christy, a fundraising concert to help pay his medical bills taking place in the Olympia Theatre on June 21.

With that gala concert and her wedding, the 26-year-old has scaled down her own gigs. "I'm only going to do some smallish gigs in the next few weeks just so I'm ready," she said.
