Darren's weighting game in fitness role

While RTE's Evelyn O'Rourke is enjoying life as a new mum after giving birth to baby Oisin, her colleague Darren Kennedy will be stepping into her shoes on Gerry Ryan's Operation Transformation.

The celeb stylist has revealed how he's now looking forward to whipping the five brave contestants into shape for the new instalment of the series.

"I've been working as a contributor for the Gerry Ryan Show for the past two years now and the team is great to work with, so I'm really looking forward to reporting on it for the team while Evelyn's on maternity leave," he explained.

"Everyone found out just before Christmas that they had been selected for the programme and this year it's four girls and one guy taking part. We're going to have our first official weigh-in next Tuesday and then the show goes on air next Wednesday."

Running for just over seven weeks, the hour-long programme has proved a massive ratings winner in the past, with the public tuning in to see how five members of the public shed the weight with a gruelling new fitness regime.

As well as reporting on all the contestants' progress, Darren has also been working on building up his new fashion website, helpmystyle.ie.

"It's all going really good at the moment, I'm trying to find enough hours in the day to do everything but it's a good complaint," he continued.

Dubliner Darren has also garnered fans in high places with his style site, given that Hollywood gossip king Perez Hilton has contacted him about some of his items.

"He emails every now and again and seems to be quite bemused about the whole scene over here, as he has made little comments about some of my interviews with some local celebrities -- but it's great that he even knows about the site," he added.
