Colin set to get animated with Beyonce in new 3D blockbuster

COLIN Farrell is to get all animated in forthcoming 3D movie Epic, alongside a star-studded cast.

The Golden Globe-winning actor is to lend his voice to the action adventure movie alongside an array of stars including singer-actress Beyonce Knowles, Mamma Mia star Amanda Seyfried and Johnny Knoxville, of Jackass fame.

Epic, which is due for release in May 2013, will also feature heartthrob Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

The family-friendly movie, which is being made by the creators of films Rio and Oscar-nominated Ice Age, will feature a good old fashioned, ongoing battle between good and evil.

Epic follows the story of a teenage girl who is transported to a secret universe where she must join forces with a variety of characters in order to save both worlds.

Global superstar Beyonce, of Single Ladies and Run The World fame, will voice the character Queen Tara, while Farrell -- who is due to hit our screens later this summer in the remake of Total Recall -- will play Ronin.

Epic will also feature voice overs from rapper Pitbull and actor Jason Sudeikis.

In 2009, Dublin star Farrell won a Best Actor Golden Globe for In Bruges.

The actor has a string of movies under his belt including Phonebooth, S.W.A.T and The Recruit.

More recently, he has starred alongside Jennifer Aniston in the comedy Horrible Bosses, as well as Fright Night, a remake which follows the story of a vampire who moves in next to a high school student.

In 2006, the Castleknock native famously took out a restraining order against stalker telephone sex worker Dessarae Bradford.

During his early years in Hollywood, the talented actor had a reputation for being a hell-raiser and a party animal.

He has since cleaned up his act, becoming a doting dad to two sons, Henry (2) and James (8), who suffers from a neuro-genetic condition known as Angelman Syndrome.

This is Beyonce's first comeback to the big screen since she became a mother to a baby girl, Blue Ivy, in January

Never one to rest on her laurels, the wife of rapper Jay-Z is also set to star in a Clint Eastwood movie -- a remake of A Star is Born.

The Texas-born star has featured in films such as Dreamgirls and Cadillac, a movie in which she plays legendary blues singer Etta James.

She first shot to fame in the late 1990s with girlband Destiny's Child.
