Christy's daughter ecstatic at birth of 'perfect' son Jake

ASLAN frontman Christy Dignam has become a grandad again a year after his cancer diagnosis.

The Finglas man's daughter Kiera (27) gave birth to a baby boy at Dublin's Rotunda Hospital yesterday.

Weighing in at 7lb 6oz, the baby is the latest good news for the Dignam family after Christy battled back to health and recently announced a gig with Aslan for the Olympia on May 31.

Kiera took to Facebook to show off the new arrival and also posted two photographs of her pride and joy.

"Thanks everyone for your messages," she wrote. "Baby Jake was born this afternoon at 1.20pm weighing 7pound 6. He's perfect!"

Kiera recently formed a new band and has said she is looking forward to being back in business within weeks of giving birth. She is also hoping to top the charts next year with her own music.

"I'll be concentrating on songwriting and recording, focusing on original content, because I feel like I've built up a bit of a following at this stage, especially in Dublin, so I want to build on that," she revealed recently.

"When I started gigging, it was to see if people liked me, then I became completely booked out and am for all next year from May," Kiera added.

While she plans to take a step back and will not return to doing four nights of gigs every week any time soon, the singer is looking forward to returning to the stage.

While battling his aggressive cancer, Christy vowed last year he would live to walk Kiera, who married her long-term partner Darren Moran last summer, up the aisle, and he was able to fulfil that.
