B*Witched Sinead celebrates 40th with huge London O2 gig

B*Witched star Sinead O'Carroll had a 40th birthday she won't forget any time soon.

The mum-of-two celebrated the milestone birthday with 16,000 fans at London's O2 last night as she took to the stage with her bandmates.

Sinead, with Edele and Keavy Lynch and Lindsay Armaou, are on tour with the Big Reunion.

Headlining

B*witched split up in 2002, but came back together for the big reunion series on ITV2.

Now the girlband are co-headlining a tour of the UK, along with other Nineties acts including Blue, Atomic Kitten and Liberty X.

While Sinead is looking forward to flying home today to see her children, there was just the small matter of performing in London's O2 and celebrating the big 4-0.

"It's been fantastic; it's been completely overwhelming stepping in to do arenas again," Sinead told the Herald. "It's just crazy."

The bands were once rivals, but 10 years on, Sinead says everyone has a much more relaxed approach to the tour and there is plenty of fun.

"We are getting on great; I think we've nearly adopted Liz [from Atomic Kitten] into our band," laughed Sinead. "I was spoiled for my birthday – they got me a cake and balloons, a present, took me out to lunch and then everyone started breathing the helium from the balloons and was singing and stuff."

Despite the milestone birthday, Sinead was keeping the after-show celebrations to a minimum with a quiet drink last night before catching an early morning flight back to Dublin, where she will celebrate with her family.

The Big Reunion followed the chart-topping bands as they prepared for the gruelling arena tour which has taken them all over the UK, before hitting the O2 in Dublin tomorrow and Belfast this weekend.
