Brighter outlook for RTE weather girl Helen

WEATHER forecaster Helen Curran has returned to her job at RTE after juggling a hectic summer of children, operations and house moves.

Back in front of the camera fresh from maternity leave and a sudden stint in hospital, presenter Helen has been showing off a glossy new hairdo.

But it hasn't been an easy few months for the blonde mother of two.

Not only has the 33-year-old been juggling work, family and a move from Wicklow to Mount Merrion, she was also forced to undergo an emergency operation in August, to have her gallbladder removed.

"I ended up in the A&E in horrendous pain - I felt like I was going into labour again," she revealed.

Almost unrecognisable as she sported long platinum tresses on air yesterday, the Dubliner told the Herald that after the operation she could not even lift her young daughter Ella, who was born last year.

"I wasn't allowed lift Ella for weeks, so that was difficult. My husband Steve was a great help though and our family is really supportive."

Helen said she's thrilled to be back in the Montrose studio and missed getting dolled up for her weather predictions.

"I've got hair extensions, which I like to wear when my hair is up, to make it more glamorous. It's so nice to be able to glammed up - we don't go out much because of our kids are very young, so I really like dressing up as much as I can when I'm working."
