Bridesmaids decked out in Irish designs

NEW bride Amy Huberman's wedding party will wear dresses by Irish designer Fiona Heaney, the Herald can exclusively reveal.

Bridesmaids at the biggest Irish celebrity wedding of the year are expected to walk up the aisle in creations by the couturier this afternoon after the actress commissioned the work of the designer for her big day.

And unlike author Cecelia Ahern, who came under fire last month for not endorsing an Irish designer on her big day, the former Clinic actress will be doing her bit for the homegrown fashion industry by having her four bridesmaids sporting Irish creations.

The bride herself is rumoured to be wearing a Vera Wang-designed gown.

And in spite of booking out a massive venue for the affair -- the couple have opted for a relatively small wedding party. Amy will have long-time friends and family closest to her for her nuptials.

Three of the star's friends from school will be acting as her bridesmaids and her cousin will be her head bridesmaid. They will each be sporting a different frock for the occasion. But her party may be larger than she originally anticipated -- two of them are expecting.

Groom Brian O'Driscoll will not be having a best man for the occasion -- his best friend Barry Twomey died in 2008 -- so the rugby hero will be keeping his memory alive by having only three groomsmen. But in another reflection of the traditional wedding, the groomsmen will be in completely formal attire -- with a simple black- tie dress code.
