Brian made my wish come true, says fairy godmother Pippa

Model Pippa O'Connor has spoken of her delight at her engagement to RTE's Brian Ormond, describing the moment as "exactly what I wanted".

The well-known presenter got down on bended knee on December 24 in the romantic setting of the Ritz Carlton hotel in Powerscourt.

But far from popping the champagne corks over the new year, Pippa has barely seen her fiance since.

Thanks to her gruelling schedule playing the part of the Fairy Godmother in the Cinderella panto, she was forced to postpone the engagement party, as the show's run was extended.

Speaking for the first time about her engagement, Pippa explained how they also had to change the dates for their New York trip.

"I've been working in the Tivoli nearly every day, so we have barely had a night out together since we got engaged," she said. "We have both just been so busy.

"The only time we have properly gone out was just before New Year's Eve, when we went to Trocadero with some friends, and we rang in the New Year at home on the couch. I had a cup of tea at midnight.

"We will have a proper party once we stop working, towards the end of the month, when we can finally celebrate it."

And she described her diamond sparkler from Paul Sheeran Jewellers as "exactly what I wanted", despite brave Brian picking it out on his own.

She has been wowing audiences in her first panto stint in the Tivoli and, due to its success, the production has now been extended until January 24.

That meant she had to put back the dates of her trip to the US with Brian until February 6, when they'll enjoy their first holiday away together as an engaged couple.

And despite speculation that her other half might be gearing up for a proposal, Pippa said it was a total surprise to her -- and they have yet to set a date for the big day.

"Stuff had been said in the papers that he might propose, so I had prepared myself that it wasn't going to happen," she said.

"When he did, it was a shock and it has been like a whirlwind ever since.

"We haven't made any plans in terms of venues or dates or anything like that, as we have just been so busy.

"It could be in Ireland, but we haven't ruled out going abroad either. We'll decide on it when we have some time off."

One of Ireland's best-known celebrity couples, the pair -- nicknamed Brippa -- have been dating for nearly two years, after meeting through mutual friends.
