Brian and I are too busy to get hitched this year says Pippa

Pippa O'Connor and Brian Ormond are putting their eagerly-awaited nuptials on the long finger.

The Diary can reveal that celebrity couple, dubbed Brippa, who were among a spate of socialites who got engaged at Christmas, have no plans to seal the deal over the coming year.

When quizzed about their nuptials, Pippa said she would like to wait until next year to walk down the aisle with her RTE presenter boyfriend.

"We're both too busy at the moment. Weddings take so much planning and you want to get everything right and do it properly. I just can't see it happening this year as there's just too much to organise.

"I've only just finished my part in the panto and we're both wrecked at the moment as we've been working so much," she explained.

Pippa, who was treading the boards playing the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, also revealed how they haven't ruled out having their wedding abroad.

"We might go away but we haven't decided anything. We'll just have to wait and see what suits us," she added.

However, the loved-up pair will fly away shortly to New York to celebrate their good news in style with a romantic trip for five days, a holiday which had to be postponed after Pippa's panto was extended by extra dates.

Thoughtful Brian got down on bended knee on December 24 after whisking Pippa to the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Powerscourt, where he presented her with a giant sparkler that he picked out himself.

The pair have been dating for more than two years and bought a house together in Newcastle, Co Dublin, just six months after they started dating.

The couple joined forces recently to co-host a charity dinner called Look Who's Cooking in the Anglers Rest in Chapelizod as they raised more than €7,000 for charity.

Brian donned his chef's hat and white jacket and spent the evening in the kitchen as he helped serve up a three-course meal to 130 people, with proceeds going towards Zamda, the Irish Zambian Aid Project.

Joining him were many of his and Pippa's closest friends and family as they enjoyed a night out for a good cause. Among them was a very chic-looking Annette Rocca, who was there with her best pal Louise Loughman.

Also there was Pippa's showjumping star brother Cian, who told the Diary how he had just come back from a successful stint competing abroad, clocking up his sixth international win in four weeks when he snatched victory at Leipzig in Germany.

Other attendees at the raucous party included man-about-town Niall McCrudden broadcaster Louise Heraghty and former Eurovision hopeful Mickey Joe Hart.
