Boy George 'lucky' to miss CBB

Boy George claimed today he had a lucky escape when a court ruled he could not take part in Celebrity Big Brother.

The former chart star turned DJ said after watching the opening show that he was "grateful" to have missed out.

George (48) was barred from becoming a housemate when a judge ruled it would breach the terms of his probation for assault and false imprisonment convictions. But he also hinted that he may still be involved with the seventh and final series of the show.

George -- whose real name is George O'Dowd -- wrote on Twitter: "I still may do something on CBB, I just won't be in it!". And a message on his official website said: "George may be a guest on any of the Big Brother's Big Mouth shows on E4 this week!"

A spokeswoman for Big Brother was unable to confirm or deny any appearances. She said as he had originally been in talks to enter the house, it was still possible he could appear on the show.

Writing about his close escape, he said on his Twitter feed: "I'm watching and very grateful that I'm at me mum's munching crisps with a cup of tea."

Last week he said that appearing on the show "would have been my worst mistake ever".

However, he said he would be keen to meet footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones in the house, tweeting: "Vinnie Jones might have been a laugh to spend a few days with, sexy!"
