Boxing star Emma raises the bar with new PR job

IRISH amateur boxer Emma Bowe is to step out of the ring and relaunch her career after landing a job at new city centre venue Harry's Bar on St Stephen's Green.

The Diary can reveal how the high-profile athlete is soon to become a familiar face at the new hotspot after taking on the role of PR manager.

"Emma is now living in Dublin permanently and will be doing some marketing and PR work at Harry's Manhattan-style cocktail bar," said an insider.

"She's still boxing but will be working there on a part-time basis to help them get their name out there.

"She's well-qualified for the job and has a lot of valuable contacts in the industry, so management are very confident the move will be a success."

Emma (29) shocked the world last year when she spoke out about former world boxing champion Ricky Hatton's cocaine use. The Irish senior women's boxing champion first met Hatton when he flew to Dublin promoting a new crop of boxers.

The Donegal native, who is set to compete for Ireland in the 2012 Olympics, recently set tongues wagging after she was spotted looking cosy in a coffee shop with former Apprentice star Breffny Morgan last year. However Cork-born Morgan was quick to insist the pair were nothing more than friends.
