Big day for Aoibhinn ... but where is Tubs?

SHE loves science -- while her boyfriend Ryan Tubridy admits it's just "not his thing".

Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain (27) and her co-authors launched their new book A Neutron Walks Into A Bar last night at Trinity College.

RTE star Ryan (39) could not make it -- but the Mayo woman said he supported the project.

"I think he did read it," she told people at the launch. "It isn't his thing at all, but you don't need to be into science to enjoy it," she explained.

Bizarre

Aoibhinn compiled the book along with fellow science fanatics Humphrey Jones, Maria Delaney and Paul Delaney.

Royalties from the book, which features bizarre facts, scientific definitions and explanations, will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis research.

Two years ago, Aoibhinn attended the launch of Tubridy's book JFK In Ireland. But Tubridy is now on a tight schedule with his 2fm daily programme and Late Late Show, which both require a high level of commitment.

Aoibhinn, who was crowned Rose of Tralee in 2005, has proved that she is not just a pretty face and has been extremely active in promoting the subjects of maths and science.

She is currently studying for a PhD in Mathematics in Trinity College Dublin and was the Ambassador for the Dublin City of Science in 2012.

Despite being usually tight-lipped about their two-year relationship, Ryan opened up in July about his two-year relationship with the Science Squad presenter and said "she continues to amaze me".
