MARIAH Carey says she isn't returning to American Idol.

And it has emerged Nicki Minaj is following Mariah out the door.

Mariah's publicity firm said the pop star wasn't returning to the series and was planning a world tour, thanks to the success of her new single, Beautiful.

Wisdom

Carey became a new judge on Idol last year along, with Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj.

She and Minaj bickered on the show, creating a feud that was uncomfortable for both viewers and contestants.

TV network Fox said in a statement that they had been "extremely fortunate that (Carey) was able to bring her wisdom and experience" to the show.

Carey's new single, a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, features Miguel.

Hip-hop diva Minaj announced yesterday on Twitter that it was "time to focus on the music".

Show producers said in a statement that they wished her the best.

Idol veteran judge Randy Jackson announced ahead of the 12th season finale that he was also leaving the show.
