Beckham proves he's one cool dad by scooping a Teen Choice Award alongside beauties Fox and Perry

David Beckham boosted his street cred with his three young sons after winning a top prize at the Teen Choice Awards, hosted by singer Katy Perry.

The former Manchester United and Madrid star was at the ceremony in LA to accept the award for Male Choice Athlete.

Beckham, who was accompanied on stage by his son Romeo, kicked footballs into the crowd after his short acceptance speech.

Transformers actress Megan Fox was also among the winners on the night.

But vampires again ruled the list of winners. The Twilight Saga commanded last night's ceremony with 11 wins, including Choice Movie Fantasy, Villain and Chemistry.

Meanwhile, The Vampire Diaries sucked up seven surfboard-shaped trophies at the ceremony.

The freewheeling show was punctuated with several silly moments, including George Lopez appearing in drag as an older Kardashian sister; Betty White interrupting Sandra Bullock's acceptance speech for Choice Movie Drama Actress; and host Katy Perry reliving high-school days by dressing up as a cheerleader, geek, hippie, prom queen and goth.

The event was attended by actress Kim Kardashian, Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, actress Lucy Hale, actress and singer Hilary Duff (above) and former Dawson's Creek star Joshua Jackson.

Now in its 12th year, the Teen Choice Awards clocked up more than 100 million votes last year.

"It's a let-your-hair-down experience," Executive Producer Bob Bain said.

"It's informal, it's fun, and there's not a huge amount at stake. It's not like you're getting an Oscar."

Also among the stars on the red carpet was Levi Johnston, the former fiance of Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol.
