The Factor: What does a young, beautiful, talented and ambitious woman need to get ahead in this world? Why a savvy older sister who is already successful and well known and has made all the right contacts, of course.

Up-and-coming actress Elizabeth Olsen (22), the younger sister of 25-year-old Hollywood twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has the bonus of having two sisters who have achieved fame and wealth in the entertainment industry already.

The Olsen twins began their acting on the popular '90s TV show Full House, and went on to make an estimated €100 million between them by merchandising clothes and products to the pre-teen market.

Younger sister Elizabeth is now making her mark as an actress, and having Mary-Kate and Ashley as older sisters will only have encouraged agents and casting directors to take the young aspiring actress seriously.

Elizabeth is the star of two new movies, the horror movie Silent House, and, more importantly, Martha Marcy May Marlene, a riveting, chilling, psychologically complex story of a damaged young girl who escapes from a cult, and which has received rave reviews.

The younger Olsen started auditioning for films in February 2010, and was only vaguely known beforehand, if she was known at all. Her twin sisters had named their clothing line Elizabeth and James after her and their brother, yet, until recently, it was not known what she looked like, or that she could act.

Another younger sister also benefiting from having older sisters who have made their way successfully in the entertainment world, is 15-year-old Kendall Jenner, younger sister of Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian. At Kim's recent wedding to Kris Humphries, upcoming model Kendall threatened to overshadow the bride when she appeared as a bridesmaid dressed in a glamorous floor-length, ivory mermaid gown.

Kendall is a taller, thinner, leggier version of older sisters Kourtney (32), Kim (30), and Khloe (27) and has appeared in ads for Forever 21, and made headlines last year for modeling a sexy string bikini and thigh-high fishnet stockings.

Yet she isn't completely comfortable in the spotlight. In a recent episode of Keeping Up with The Kardashians, she stormed out of a runway walking lesson and accused sister Kim of trying to push her too hard.

Lottie Moss (13), is the younger sister of supermodel Kate Moss (37), and her blonde willowy good looks made a big impression when she was one of the 15 bridesmaids at big sis Kate's wedding last July.

Lottie, who is like a mini-version of her older sister, is the daughter of Kate's father, Peter, and his second wife, Inger. She models vintage clothes for the family store in West Sussex, yet it has been reported that her parents have banned her from modeling full-time until she turns 14.

Carole White, the model agent famous for launching Naomi Campbell, said on seeing photos of Lottie at sister Kate's wedding: "Lottie looks beautiful and fresh -- a very English-rose look. Her mother is quite right to wait until she is 14 and has developed more but she has wonderful features and could definitely make a model. Generally, you need the height. Kate is an exception to the rule because models need to be 5ft 9in to 5ft 11in. I think Lottie would make a lovely young model."

Elle Fanning (13), is the younger sister of the award-winning actress Dakota Fanning (17), who has starred in the movies War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise, and Charlotte's Web with Julia Roberts.

Elle's emerging acting career has seen her recently work with Francis Ford Coppola on his new film Twixt, which the legendary director wrote based on a dream. She plays the role of a young ghost named V.

Teen-star Elle now towers over her older and better-known sister Dakota, as was evident when the two recently showed up together at New York Fashion Week.

Elle has also recently finished working on director Cameron Crowe's movie We Bought a Zoo, in which she plays Lily, a 13-year-old who is working illegally at the zoo's restaurant, and lives on the property with her only parental figure, Kelly (Scarlett Johansson).

Dublin actress Emma Bolger (15) first gained praise when she appeared alongside older sister Sarah (20) in director Jim Sheridan's Oscar-nominated movie, In America, in 2002.

Sarah is also well known for her role as Princess/Lady Mary Tudor on The Tudors, and for her role as Mallory Grace in The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Emma, who also had the title role in the children's film Heidi, has reportedly taken a break from acting to concentrate on her studies.

No doubt when she decides to return to the big screen, having Sarah, who is one of our most notable young actresses, as an older sister will do her no harm at all.
