Apprentice star Panos rushed to hospital on business trip

FORMER Apprentice contestant Panos Zambetakis was rushed to hospital after he stopped breathing while on a business trip.

The 34-year-old was in San Francisco when he started feeling pain in his throat.

Within 24 hours, he started having trouble breathing and his colleagues feared for his life as he collapsed.

"Panos is still in America recovering from what really was a frightening ordeal," a source close to the Google senior media sales executive explained.

"He started to feel unwell and had a bit of a sore throat but didn't really think anything of it.

"But the next day he was still feeling ropey and he started to have difficulty breathing."

He then lost consciousness and was rushed to Stanford hospital.

Doctors discovered that his breathing was being obstructed by a dangerous abscess in his oesophagus.

Friends said that despite his scary ordeal, the Greek native had requested to get out of the hospital earlier than recommended so that he could fly back home to Ireland.
