Aoibheann just loved working with big messer Domhnall

rising film star Domhnall Gleeson is fast earning his Hollywood credentials, but the Dubliner is a bit of a messer at heart.

That's according to Fair City actress Aoibheann McCaul, who admitted that her experience sharing the stage with Brendan Gleeson's son was "stressful" as well as good fun.

The pair teamed up for the recent 24 Hour Plays in Dublin's Abbey Theatre, which does exactly as it says on the tin and gives a group of actors, writers and directors 24 hours to come up with six short plays.

So it was far from the big budget film sets that Domhnall is getting used to after his starring role alongside Hollywood beauty Rachel McAdams in romantic comedy About Time.

"It was really exciting, but really stressful as well – it was probably one of the most stressful experiences that I've ever had," Aoibheann said of her on-stage antics with Domhnall.

"Our play was really hard to learn because it was conversation, so it was really very difficult.

"But it was good fun and I loved being in a show with Domhnall.

"I was really excited when I got the script because they announced the writer and director first and then I heard the cast and I was like 'this is going to be brilliant,'" said the 27-year-old.

Harry Potter actor Domhnall has worked alongside his dad on the movie Calvary and enjoyed filming eclectic film Frank alongside Michael Fassbender and Maggie Gyllenhaal last year.

But Aoibheann said Domhnall found The 24 Hour Plays just as chaotic as everyone else taking part.

The star even found time on stage to contact his mystery other half.

"He was snap-chatting his girlfriend," said Aoibheann.

"He doesn't have any notions about himself so he was like the rest of us going 'what the hell is going on?' so it was great.

"He was a couple of years ahead of me in school, so I kind of knew how he was going to be.

"He's just really straight up and doesn't care."

Aoibheann, who is best-known for her portrayal of bitchy Caoimhe Dillon on Fair City, told the Diary that there is plenty more drama ahead for her character.

"I've just kicked off a new storyline so that will be an interesting one, but we're not that far ahead so I can't say too much," she said.
