TV star Ant McPartlin and his mother were allegedly assaulted during a family meal in London.

A gang started filming the pair on their mobile phones and making rude gestures as they ate dinner at a pub.

The 38-year-old went outside to ask them to leave, but one of the group put him in a headlock, a newspaper reported.

His mother, Christine, was allegedly pushed to the ground after she tried to intervene.

Police said they had been called to an incident in Chiswick, West London, around 8pm on Thursday last week.

A spokesman added: "No allegations were made and no one suffered any injuries."

The Geordie presenter has had a run of bad luck recently.

Last month, he was said to have chopped off the tip of his thumb while trying to figure out how to use a vegetable-slicing machine ahead of making a Sunday dinner.
