X FACTOR judge Louis Walsh has said he's confident that an Irish contestant will make it big in the hit show.
An estimated 10,000 fame seekers queued up patiently for the chance to win over Simon Cowell and his panel of judges at Croke Park.
And judging by the reaction from the Westlife manager, he was bowled over by the level of talent among the determined fame seekers.
"There was lots of talent and I really want an Irish winner," he told the Herald.
Some 200 people were chosen from the gruelling rounds of auditions last weekend and Louis revealed how the team are coming back in July to judge those short-listed.
The performers deemed the most talented at that stage will go forward to the next round of the competition, which sees them entering the show's Boot Camp.
He added how he really wants to prove Simon Cowell wrong about the level of talent in Ireland, given the huge success of finalists Jedward.
Meanwhile, Louis has admitted he's hugely disappointed after missing out on his pal David Walliams's wedding to Lara Stone as a result of the volcanic ash.
The pop impresario was due to fly out on Sunday to attend the star-studded ceremony of the Little Britain star to the Dutch supermodel.
The Westlife manager was expecting to join a host of A-listers at the lavish ceremony in Claridge's hotel in London before being unexpectedly grounded.
