HE may be facing a few weeks off the pitch after picking up a leg injury during last Saturday's game against Scotland, but there was some small consolation for Irish rugby captain Brian O'Driscoll.
The Diary can reveal that the Clontarf native's bride-to-be Amy Huberman placed a sizeable bet on her fiance scoring Ireland's first try against the opposition, netting a tidy sum when his luck came in within the first few minutes of the game.
The star was spotted entering a bookie just hours before the big game, where she threw her weight behind her other half at odds of 6/1.
Amy later joined her fellow Irish rugby WAGs at Croke Park, as they cheered on their men.
The smitten couple later decamped to city centre hotspot Krystle to join Brian's teammates including Rob Kearney, Tommy Bowe, Jamie Heaslip, Paul O'Connell and Jonny Sexton as they drowned their sorrows after their defeat.
"I'm obviously very disappointed," Brian said afterwards on Twitter. "Credit to the Scots they really put it to us. Knee is sore."
The boys were spotted enjoying a second day on the town on Sunday, when they took over the front of the Exchequer bar. This time it was a players-only affair, though, as they made the most of their break following weeks of intense training.
