Alison gets her claws into a TV cougar role

FORMER Bond actress Alison Doody has revealed her joy after landing a role which will see her follow in the footsteps of ex-Friends star Courteney Cox by playing a 'cougar' in a TV sitcom.

The stunning blonde told the Diary how she's delighted at the prospect of playing a glamorous older woman in the new E4 series Beaver Falls.

Alison (44) will star opposite hunky young actor Sam Robertson and says she's hoping to help put an end to the stigma attached to women dating younger men.

"I've just come back from Africa and I have a series coming out at the end of the month for E4," she told the Diary.

"Basically I play an older lady, Pam. She's a cougar-type character. It was great fun filming it. I can't wait to see what the reaction will be like when it comes out.

"Sam Robertson is my young leading man and he was fantastic to work with.

"It's important to take on roles that challenge you. I was delighted when I got the call," she added.

The chatty actress was speaking yesterday at the final day of this year's Oxegen festival, where she joined a number of friends in the exclusive backstage VIP area.

Alison was dressed to impress in a blue top and black jacket as she enjoyed the festivities on what was her first visit to the annual music event.

"There's nothing better than sitting out in the open air with friends," she explained. "Coldplay are a favourite and Beyonce."

Also spotted relaxing in the sunshine in the star-studded VIP area were newlyweds Pippa O'Connor and Brian Ormond.

The loved-up couple have just returned from a three week honeymoon to Singapore and Bali and explained how they were keen to catch up with pals, whom they hadn't seen since their glitzy nuptials at the Ritz Carlton in Powerscourt last month.

"The honeymoon was amazing," Pippa said. "We went to Bali and Singapore. It was brilliant to take a break after all the planning. We had a great time. It was really action packed. We literally just put the feet up and had a great time.

"It feels the same being married, maybe a little bit more secure or something.

"The wedding day was more than we expected, it was like a fairy tale," she added.

The AR model is soon to become an aunt for the first time, with her sister Susanna due to give birth to her first baby next week.

Pippa insists however that she and her new hubby Brian have no plans to start a family themselves just yet.

According to the catwalk queen: "I cannot wait to be an auntie, it'll be the first time so we're so excited.

"Thankfully I've got youth on my side so that will keep me occupied for a while before I even start thinking about my own (family).

"I suppose now I'm just focused on my sister having the baby and come September I'll be flat out with work again. "Summer time is a bit quieter than usual. I just plan to enjoy it," she added.
