Alan turns to Vernon for Fortune tips

WITH only four weeks to go before TV3 star Alan Hughes marries partner Karl Broderick, the star has been celebrating his final days as a single man.

The Ireland AM presenter has just returned from his stag do.

"We were in Brighton at our stag last weekend it was brilliant.

"It's so relaxed over there and we had good fun," he said.

And fans are only too keen to lend their congratulations to the couple -- which Alan found out after joining Facebook.

Despite being a self-confessed "technophobe", the Dubliner has recently joined the social networking site and has been overwhelmed by the messages of support that fans have for himself and long-term beau Karl.

"It's mad because I only started accepting friends on Facebook recently and I'm overwhelmed. I was a bit afraid to go on but it's been amazing. I have had so many comments from people wishing us the best for the wedding."

Wedding plans aside, the panto star is now looking forward to hosting Ireland's version of Family Fortunes and will be calling British star Vernon Kay for some tips.

Alan is hoping to grab a few words with Vernon while he supports friend Brian Dowling at Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother.

Speaking to the Diary at the launch of Dominos new Gourmet Pizza range last night, Alan said that he and pals Pippa O'Connor and Brian Ormond are heading to London to support presenter Brian, and he is hoping for a word with Vernon.

"Brian really is great friends with Vernon and his wife Tess so they'll all be there. Myself, Pippa, Brian Ormond and Karl will be there just to give him a bit of support."

Family Fortunes will be going out on Saturday at 8pm in the New Year.
