Alan and Karl plan lavish wedding for hundreds of guests

TV PRESENTER Alan Hughes has no intentions of cutting corners for his upcoming nuptials, with hundreds of people on the guest list.

The TV3 star is set to walk down the aisle with his partner Karl Broderick in just six weeks, but is having problems getting the invitation list down to a reasonable level.

He told the Diary that the attendance list is now in the hundreds, including a list of high-profile celebrities.

Alan, who has previously remained tight-lipped about the details of the ceremony, confirmed that it will be a lavish bash.

"There will be a couple of hundred people at the wedding. It will be a great night and there will be lots of well known faces around," he said.

No doubt his Celebrity Salon co-stars will be included on that exclusive list. The TV star has still remained close to his salon buddies Rosanna Davison, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, Georgia Salpa and Calum Best.

Alan said that he and Karl are currently going through the check list for their wedding, and that he's starting to realise how close the big day really is.

"It's all about the wedding plans at the moment, it's only six weeks away, it's going to be great. We are actually going through our list now, looking through everything," he said.

"When you are seeing everyone listed on the invitations it's like 'Oh my God'."

However, the TV star claimed that he hasn't been stressed by all the wedding plans and has remained quite cool over the last few weeks, in the lead-up to the special day.

"I'm not stressed, I'm not turning into a Groomzilla," he joked.

After the couple announced their engagement in April, TV3 was inundated with congratulations from viewers.

The pair will walk down the aisle on September 30 at a civil partnership ceremony in the Unitarian church on Dawson Street followed by a party in the Mansion House.

And the well-known couple, who have been together for more than 17 years, could become the first same-sex celebrity couple to have their union covered by VIP magazine.

The Herald previously revealed how they could follow in the footsteps of Pippa O'Connor and Brian Ormond by signing a lucrative deal with the magazine for exclusive pictures from the big day.
