Aidan motivated to take part in tough charity challenge

Calling all fitness fans looking for the next adventure. Details of the inaugural Motivate Challenge have just been unveiled -- and RTE's Aidan Power is gearing up to give it a go.

Taking place at various picturesque locations around Kildare and Wicklow, the new sporting event will take place on September 11, 2010.

It will bring together three disciplines of running/walking, cycling and kayaking over a distance of either 25km or a longer one of 65km. And all proceeds will go towards the worthwhile cause of Barretstown children's camp, which helps seriously ill children.

RTE presenter Aidan said the challenge provided an "achievable goal" for the extreme and novice adventure race participant.

"People's reasons for taking part are as varied as their levels of fitness but it's a great opportunity to achieve a personal goal while also fundraising for a very deserving charity in Barretstown," he said.

The day will also feature a host of entertainment for children alongside a farmers' market, a funfair and lifestyle-focus seminars which will be held at Punchestown, with a crowd of 9,000 people expected.
