1D steal show at BBC Teen awards with three big wins

ONE Direction have swept the board at the BBC Teen Awards.

Liam, Niall, Zayn, Louis and Harry took home not one, not two but three awards at the event in Wembley Arena, which will go some way towards easing their disappointment after Live While We're Young lost out to Rihanna's new single.

The boys won Best Single, Best Album and Best Music Act at the ceremony -- firmly cementing their status as the ultimate new boy band.

Up All Night won Best Album, while One Thing won Best Single.

And the boys were thrilled with the result. Accepting the awards they said. "This is absolutely amazing. We have to start off by thanking our incredible fans, it's been an unbelievable two years for us."

Mullingar native Niall Horan tweeted after the ceremony: "Wow! Thank you guys -- u were incredible. Thanks for voting for us to win 3 awards! Love u."

The One Direction boys performed hits Live While We're Young and Up All Night on a giant floating plinth during the ceremony, with hoards of teenage girls screaming below.

The next awards ceremony the boys are hoping to clean up at are the MTV European Music Awards. And with such devoted fans, they may score a hat-trick again.

But despite being every teenage girls dream, all of the 1D lads lost out to Olympian swimmer Tom Daley when it came to Male Hottie of the Year Award.

It was a star-studded event with Taylor Swift, Little Mix, Conor Maynard and FUN also performing as part of the ceremony.

X Factor won Best TV Show with judge Tulisa Contostavlos accepting the gong.
