Irish rugby player Gordon D'Arcy has advised that balance is key when it comes to family life.

Gordon and his wife Aoife Cogan are expecting their first child together before the summer and Gordon is confident that their dog Albert will welcome the baby into the fold.

"We've a good balance in family life," Gordon said.

"A couple of my friends have been over with their kids, he runs over and licks their feet. We're quietly confident with him."

The couple won't be finding out the sex of their baby beforehand.

"There are so few surprises left in life and I love all the guessing; the old wives' tales and everyone having a theory about whether it's a boy or a girl," Aoife said.

"But overall I just think it's a lovely surprise, especially on your first."

The couple run Pilates studio Form School together.

"You hear these things, 'never go into business with friends or family'," Gordon told Anton Savage on TodayFM.

"But we're open a year and it's taken on a life of its own. We've a very good skill set.

"I do the business and finance side of things, while Aoife is front of house and deals with social media and making sure there's a friendly face when they walk in the door," he added.
