Meet the new Dublin Rose Aisling Finnegan who is set to do the county proud at the upcoming festival.

The 25-year-old was delighted to be selected as the Dublin representative last Saturday night at the Stillorgan Park Hotel.

She is a trained physiotherapist and pilates instructor from Rathcoole.

Speaking about her decision to enter the competition, she said that one of her friends was an escort at the event a few years ago.

"He had such a ball. He said to me: 'Aisling, you have to go for the Dublin Rose'.

Amazing

"I went to one of their meetings a couple of months ago and it was amazing. I met loads of the girls who were going to take part, and I met some of the old Dublin Roses," she said.

"I always watched the Roses every year," Aisling told the Herald.

The long-running festival which is held in August, celebrates 56 years this year, and she will now be focusing her mind on putting together outfits for all the events.

Aisling is the youngest of three siblings, and so the whole family are "very excited", shesaid.

Her boyfriend Dermot is a musician and he will be supporting her in the competition.

Practice

In her day job, she is based between two private practices, and also teaches pilates classes during the week.

The talented Dub was the head physiotherapist with Peamount United Football Club for the women's team last season.

"That was great. They came third in the league.

"I am also a physiotherapist with Naas Rugby Club. I run and I cycle and I swim. I am interested in general health and well being, and I think physiotherapy is quite a nice mix of everything," she added.

Meanwhile, despite only being selected a few days ago, Boylesports yesterday put Aisling as the early 5/2 favourite.
