Dublin stars on the mark again for Chesterfield in FA Cup

Eoin Doyle

IN-DEMAND Irish striker Eoin Doyle scored his 27th goal of the season and helped League One side Chesterfield remain in the FA Cup last night, with fellow Irishman Jay O'Shea also on target.

Chesterfield were 2-0 down at half time in their third-round tie away to League One rivals Scunthorpe United, but Tallaght man Doyle, who has been linked with a January move to the Championship, gave Paul Cook's side a lifeline with a 71st minute penalty, and ex-Galway United player O'Shea came off the bench to score an equaliser on 85 minutes and the tie finished 2-2. The winners of that replay will face Derby County in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, former Ireland U21 cap Robert Bayly has left Shamrock Rovers and moved north to join Belfast outfit Cliftonville.
