Delays after pile-up on M50

A SEVEN-car pile up on the M50 caused traffic delays at morning rush hour today.

The multiple car crash happened on the M50 northbound between Junction 11, Tallaght and Junction 10, Ballymount, gardai said.

AA Roadwatch said it caused delays on the approach from the J11 Tallaght, partially blocking two lanes.

Onlookers also slowed down southbound traffic at Junction 10, the AA said.

Dublin Fire Brigade said there were no serious injuries from the multiple collision.

Victim's ordeal after beating

A YOUNG Galway man was seriously injured and has been attending a psychiatrist since he was brutally attacked by a gang of youths during his first stay in Dublin, a court has heard.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, faced preliminary hearings at Dublin Children's Court yesterday in connection with the attack on the 20-year-old man.

They have been charged with assault at the Dublin City University campus on February 25.

The man was repeatedly kicked and punched in front of his girlfriend.

The boys were remanded on continuing bail to appear again next month.

Funeral probe man loses plea

A MAN arrested as part of a garda probe into the firing of shots over a coffin at a paramilitary funeral has lost his High Court challenge against his detention.

Derek Nolan (30) from Seacliff Road, Baldoyle, north Dublin, was arrested on Tuesday night.

The allegations arise out of an incident when shots were fired over dissident republican Alan Ryan's coffin on September 8.
