Déise duo deliver 'Dee day on the beach

PUNTERS enjoyed a great day at the beach at Laytown yesterday.

The opening Balmarino handicap was won by Topadee for Pat Flynn and Danny Grant, after he was backed from 7/1 into a starting price of 4/1.

The redoubtable Waterford duo soon followed up with Jeangeorges (8/1) in the claimer, while the Jessica Harrington-trained Parramatta justified 2/1 favouritism for Shane Foley in the seven-furlong maiden.

Champion amateur rider Patrick Mullins, who leads the overall jump jockeys' championship by one from Davy Russell, scored when Joanna Morgan's Six Silver Lane survived a stewards' inquiry in the qualified riders' race.

The triumph means that Mullins has now ridden a winner at every track in the country.
