Dad of two dies in freak farm accident

Pat Buckley (40) died when he was struck in the face by farm machinery as he was finishing up work at the family holding outside Mourneabbey.

Mr Buckley, who was found at the farm at Ballyhillogue shortly after 7pm on Wednesday, is the 29th person to die in a farming accident in 2014.

Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are now conducting investigations, though the matter is being treated as a freak farm accident.

Mr Buckley was found by his mother who immediately contacted emergency services.
