Crane man fled scene of collision

A CRANE driver who left the scene of a crash claimed he was "so shocked" he wandered around in a daze for hours.

Cathal McGarvey (46) was turning right across a road when he collided with an oncoming BMW.

The driver of the BMW, Conor McAlinden, said McGarvey drove straight into him.

Judge Michael Coghlan fined McGarvey, of Carrigmore Park, Tallaght, €1,000 and banned him from driving for two years.

He appeared at Tallaght District Court charged with careless driving and failing to report the accident on January 18 last year.
