Clontarf commitment earns gold
THE Clontarf U12 footballers trained on Christmas Eve. Now, that's dedication.
It paid off. They have been crowned the U12 Division 2 all-Dublin champions (pictured).
They went through the season unbeaten. "That's a great achievement for any side," says coach, Ray Meehan.
"The lads trained very hard before the league. And that was the commitment that set the tempo for the campaign. We owe a special thanks to the parents. Without their support, it would not have been possible."
The Tarf faced some testing matches. Their last one was away to Fingallians, who had only been beaten once.
"That's where all the effort the squad put in came to the fore. A great all-round team performance got us through by five points in the end," explains Ray.
"The players deserve so much credit for the work they put into the season. And now we are all looking forward to Division 1."
And many could follow the path of Jack McCaffrey.
