Christmas in prison for drink drive dad
A DRIVER who mounted a footpath and nearly hit pedestrians begged a judge to defer sentencing him as he knew he was going to jail and wanted to spend Christmas with his wife and three children.
Hugh Cash (30) was drunk, did two handbrake turns in a housing estate and nearly lost control of his car and crashed into another vehicle.
However, Judge James McDonnell refused to defer sentencing and sentenced him to four months in prison.
Cash, of Sundale Avenue, in Tallaght, previously admitted before Tallaght District Court to dangerous driving as well as driving without insurance or a driving licence.
The incident took place at Sundale Park in Tallaght on April 29 last. Judge McDonnell fined Cash €250, banned him from driving for five years and jailed him for four months.
