Charity draws on stars' art talents

CELEBRITIES have been "doodling" to raise funds for a leading cancer charity.

RTE stars Miriam O'Callaghan, Joe Duffy, Rachel Allen and Leinster and Ireland rugby star Gordon D'Arcy are just some of the celebrities who have put their pen to paper and doodled for a charity auction.

Other celebrity doodlers include author Maeve Binchy, British Prime Minister David Cameron and Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy.

Proceeds raised from the Doodle auction will go towards the Cork ARC Cancer Support House. "Many of the celebrity doodlers had been touched by cancer and were aware of the wonderful work happening at ARC. We spoke to some of them about the inspiration behind their doodle," a spokeswoman for ARC told the Herald.

Gordon D'Arcy penned a cute picture of two pandas embracing, while team-mate Jonathan Sexton was obviously thinking of his next match as he doodled a rugby player taking a conversion.

Interestingly, RTE broadcaster Joe Duffy's humorous illustration listed his "favourite books of 2010", with creative titles such as Banksters, Wasters and Ship Of Fools featuring in his drawing.

Former Miss Ireland Rosanna Davison drew a fairly impressive picture of a horse, while Munster rugby star Ronan O'Gara's drawing featured horseracing.
