Champion Hurdle still the target for Dunguib

Trainer Philip Fenton (pictured right) would like to give the eight-year-old his first appearance of the winter in the Limestone lad Hurdle at Naas on January 15, although he admits it might come too soon.

"He's in great form. We took him to Leopardstown on Thursday. He went two miles round there and did a sensible gallop," said Fenton.

"He's on track, but we're not sure if he's ready for the Limestone Lad Hurdle as we got delayed a bit by the weather.

"We lost a bit of headway even though he was exercising and we've not missed a day.

"We'll have to get the results before we can look at the Champion Hurdle. It depends on his performance on his way whether we go for that.

"It was the target at the start of year and as long as he does himself justice, the Champion Hurdle is still the target."

Bailey set to be signed up for National service

Blazing Bailey is a possible for the John Smith's Grand National following his victory at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Trainer Alan King has the Aintree spectacular in mind for the nine-year-old who returned to form in tremendous fashion.

King admitted to being surprised at the former classy staying hurdler's convincing 11-length success over Richard's Sundance in a competitive handicap chase over an extended three and a quarter miles.

"We'll see what the handicapper does and go from there. I think he's going to have an entry at Aintree but I don't know where we go next," said the Barbury Castle handler.

Charlton hopes he has Keys to Bumper glory

Keys could be a first Cheltenham Festival runner for Derby-winning trainer Roger Charlton after maintaining his unbeaten record.

The four-year-old is a leading fancy at around the 16-1 mark for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper after completing a hat-trick with a battling short-head success over Cinders And Ashes at Cheltenham.

"Keys' owner/breeder Barry Hurley was absolutely thrilled to win and he is now dreaming of running in the Champion Bumper in March," said Charlton.
