Celeb DJ may face further charges
A SOCIALITE and ex-DJ accused of stealing more than €3,000 in two incidents in Dublin last year may have more charges brought against him, a court heard.
The prosecution is considering bringing further charges against Aaron Weinrib.
Weinrib (34), a friend of top model Ali McDonnell, had the case against him adjourned again at Dublin District Court.
The case was put back for two months and a judge agreed to relax bail conditions that had been set.
The accused, with addresses at Heather Court, Stepaside Park, Stepaside, and at Lower Rathmines Road, is charged with stealing a total of €3,750 in the two incidents.
He is alleged to have stolen €550 at an address in Charlemont, Griffith Avenue, and another €3,200 at the Stout Bar, Rathmines, both on June 3, 2010.
It was Weinrib's fifth court appearance in the case.
A State solicitor told Judge Brendan Toale that the DPP had consented to summary trial of the existing charges at District Court level. This means the case will not be sent for jury trial to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where the potential penalties on conviction are greater.
"There may be further charges," she added.
Defence solicitor Tony Collier said the accused was consenting to the adjournment given that the situation had "not fully crystallised".
Judge Toale made an order for the disclosure of documents by the prosecution to the defence.
The accused did not address the court during the hearing.
Gardai are understood to have spoken to other people in connection with the case.
Weinrib was until recently sharing a house in Rathfarnham with model Ali McDonnell and her partner Dr Mark Dempsey. Neither Ms McDonnell nor Dr Dempsey have any connection with Weinrib's case.
