California Gurl Katy's extra Irish tour date
KATY Perry has added another date to the Irish leg of her tour due to phenomenal demand.
The new Mrs Russell Brand will be returning to Dublin for an extra night next year in order to give her Irish fans another treat, the Herald can exclusively reveal.
Although she only just announced the dates for her California Dreams tour for early next year, Katy, who is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, has scheduled a second leg for the latter half of 2011.
The I Kissed A Girl singer will be jetting back to the capital next November for one night to perform for any of her fans that missed her the first time around.
The Grammy nominated songstress will be treading the boards of The O2 next November 7, and the gig is expected to sell out just as quickly as her first.
Tickets for all shows will be available as an exclusive pre-sale with The O2 at 9am this Wednesday and they will go on general sale from 9am on Friday.
She is fast becoming one of the most successful artists in modern pop with three UK Top 10 hits to her name this year with California Gurls, Teenage Dream and Firework.
Since exploding onto the scene in 2008 she has sold out her own 50-city world headlining tour plus hosted and performed at the MTV European Music Awards twice, where she also won Best New Act in 2008.
As well as several Grammy nominations Katy won a Brit Award in 2009 for Best International Female.
She has also landed four Grammy awards nominations for her album Teenage Dream. After learning of her impressive feat just last week, she tweeted: "It's an amazing honour to be nominated and recognised by my other hard working peers tonight. So happy that I trusted my gut with this record and thank u to all the amazing Team Katy people I've been blessed to surround myself with, couldn't do it without u. It takes a village!"
And, despite the recession, concert ticket sales are just as strong as ever.
Dedicated Irish fans are still determined to see their favourite artists in the flesh, and this was evident from Arcade Fire's sell-out performance last night.
The Canadian superstars rocked The O2 last night and are set to wow audiences once again tonight when they perform with special guests Vampire Weekend and Devendra Banhart.
