Cage fighter McGregor inks book deal

The Crumlin MMA star will release his memoir, Notorious: My Life in and out of the Octagan, in Autumn 2015.

He is as famous for his way with words as he is for his dominance in the ring and he has promised that the book "will have magic".

Last Saturday night, the Dublin star claimed a knock-out victory in the first round of his clash with Diego Brandao.

The fight took place in a packed O2 arena and McGregor was cheered home by an extremely enthusiastic home crowd.

Afterwards, he said he hoped his next Irish fight would take place in an open stadium, prompting some fans to say it should take place in the Aviva stadium or Croke Park.

His rise to the top in the gruelling combat sport will account for just some of the Dubliner's book.

His publishers are also promising a philosophical take on hard-work and self-belief.

Not content with just the written word, the MMA hardman is also in the middle of filming a documentary about his life which will air early next year.

"I'm ready to tell my story and give something back to my fans, who have been with me from the beginning," he said.

His success on Saturday on home turf was certainly a big moment for fans of the 26-year-old, but his performance earned him some new, famous admirers too.

The Terminator himself had high praise for the sport star.

Hollywood movie legend Arnold Schwarzenegger (inset) dubbed the Irishman 'The McGregornator'.

McGregor will join big names in Irish showbiz such as Gay Byrne and Darina Allen on the roster of publishing house Gill and Macmillan.

He signed the dotted line just yesterday for an undisclosed sum.

Commissioning editor Conor Nagle said that McGregor's 
positive story was something that the world needed to hear about.

The news of his book contract comes just after his next fight was announced.

He is set to take on Dustin Poirier in September as part of UFC 178.

The American fighter dismissed McGregor as over-hyped this week ahead of the clash.
