Business: Aer Lingus figures up

PASSENGER numbers at Aer Lingus rose slightly by 0.7pc to 1.027 million, despite a drop in transatlantic business.

The airline said the number of booked short-haul passengers on its network was 1.1pc higher at 931,000 in July, while long-haul traffic was down 3pc to 96,000. In the year to date, the number of booked passengers on short-haul routes is 1.7pc lower at 5.043 million, while on long-haul flights the figure is down 4.2pc at 484,000.

The total decline in the year to date was 2pc.
