Burglary suspects held after crash
GARDAI are waiting to interview a man and a teenage boy who were injured when a car suspected of being used in a Dublin burglary crashed in Co Longford.
A woman in her 20s and a teenage girl were arrested at the scene whilst the two males who were with them were rushed to hospital for treatment for various injuries.
The two females were released without charge last night pending a file being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Gardai in Edgeworthstown were alerted to be on the lookout for a car after a garda investigation into a burglary in the capital on Saturday.
Gardai attempted to stop the suspect car outside the town on Saturday night but it failed to stop when ordered to.
The car, with four occupants, sped off and was pursued by the gardai.
A short distance away the car crashed at Goshen Cross, Edgeworthstown.
Gardai arrested two female suspects, one in her mid 20s and the other a juvenile, and they were held for questioning.
The two males, one on his 20s and the other a juvenile, were taken to Mullingar Hospital where they were being treated for multiple injuries last night.
Their injuries, however, are not thought to be life-threatening. Gardai are waiting until the three are well enough to be interviewed.
A file will be prepared for the DPP, who will determine if criminal charges should be brought as a result of the incident.
