Builder is crushed by truck in accident

A 'good Samaritan' builder was killed in a freak accident involving his own truck.

Neil Kearney (58), formerly of Rathfarnham, Dublin, died when he was crushed by his own vehicle at his home in Co Wicklow.

Mr Kearney had got out of his pick-up truck to open padlocks on gates at his home in Tomdarragh, Roundwood, when the vehicle rolled forward and crushed him.

He was alone when the accident happened and his body was found later and was taken to Loughlinstown Hospital where a post-mortem examination took place.

Mr Kearney was well known for many acts of kindness to people who needed his services.

A family source said they were "devastated".

"Everybody loved him. He was such a good person," the family source said.
