Bs out to sting the Kingdom
IT will be Super Sunday for the Jackies, one and two, next week. The top side host Laois in the TG4 Leinster Championship semi-final in Portmarnock, while the second team play Kerry in the All-Ireland Senior B Championship final in Nenagh.
The Senior Bs will be bidding to win the Aisling McGing title for the second time, following their heroic semi-final victory away to Cork.
It was a super result for Pat Stritch and his management team. Cork had already beaten Dublin in the group stage.
But the young Dubs showed character and craft to come away from Glanworth with a two-point victory to earn a tilt against Kerry, who overcame Meath in the other semi-final.
Meanwhile, Dublin clubs Foxrock-Cabinteely and Na Fianna did the county proud at the weekend.
Distinction
They flew the blue flag with distinction in the national Féile na Peil Finals in Laois/Offaly.
The Fox-Cabs took part in Division 1. They had two sparkling wins in their group, accounting for St Rynagh's of Banagher and St Val's Cork. Their only defeat came against the crack St Ciarán's of Ferbane, who went on to win gold. It was a splendid effort from the Dublin champions who won the title in such style against Castleknock at Parnell Park last April.
Na Fianna collected the Dublin Division 2 prize. They overcame Clontarf in a terrific Parnell Park final that extended to extra-time.
In the midlands, the Glasnevin side had wins against Ballyroan of Laois and Rochfortbridge from Westmeath. Yet they didn't emerge from the pool following their loss to Sperrin óg-Tyrone.
Both clubs earned the applause for their charm, on and off the pitch, and their hosts couldn't speak highly enough of them.
The wonderful weekend memories will live on forever on both sides of the great divide -- the Liffey.
