Brother and sister arrested in drugs raid
Crime
A BROTHER and sister were in custody last night, as well as a 47-year-old man, after gardai made two significant drug seizures in the same estate on the capital's southside.
The planned operation happened at Limekiln Green in Walkinstown when officers from the Pearse Street Drugs Unit targeted both properties yesterday afternoon.
Around €70,000 worth of cocaine was found in one house, which led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man and his 18-year-old sister.
A much bigger haul was discovered when gardai raided the other house and arrested the 47-year-old man.
"During the course of a second search at a house, gardai recovered cocaine with an approximate street value of €430,000 and ecstasy with a street value of €5,000. Zopiclone tablets with a street value of €220,000 were also recovered," a garda spokesman said.
Dealing
Gardai explained that the operation was targeting drug dealing in the south inner city.
Yesterday's bust was the second major seizure of the week.
Gardai made one of their largest heroin seizures in recent months when they found €300,000 worth of the deadly drug at a west Dublin industrial estate on Wednesday morning.
Officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau made the discovery at 3am during a planned search at Coolmine Industrial Estate in Blanchardstown. No arrests were made but it is understood that the drugs may be owned by a local criminal gang.
