Bridesmaids face off with killer teens and 'dirtbag' Colin at MTV movie awards
THIS year's MTV Movie Awards will be a showdown between a bevy of bridesmaids and a cast of killer kids.
Bridesmaids and The Hunger Games, starring newcomer Jennifer Lawrence, topped the nominees at MTV's annual film honours with eight nods apiece, including bids for best cast, breakthrough performance and movie of the year.
Rounding out the best-picture contenders are Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, The Help and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1.
MTV announced nominees in 12 categories, including six new ones such as "best on-screen dirtbag" which includes a nomination for our own Colin Farrell for his role in horrible bosses.
His co-star in the movie, Jennifer Aniston, is also up for the same gong.
The nomination is one of two for Farrell, who also gets the nod for Best On-screen Transformation in the same movie.
Also new this year is the fact that nominees were selected by a panel of actors, producers, agents and industry tastemakers instead of via an online vote from the public.
Fans can still choose the category winners, though. Voting begins online today.
The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards will be presented on June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City and broadcast live on MTV.
