Boy (17) beat up German

A TEENAGER who had to be subdued with pepper spray after he beat up a German national in Dublin on St Patrick's Day is to be sentenced next month.

The 17-year-old boy had spent a period in custody on remand but was released earlier this month to live in a HSE care placement.

Yesterday, the case resumed at the Dublin Children's Court and Judge John O'Neill sought an updated probation report on the boy.

The teen had pleaded guilty earlier to charges for assault, public order and possessing a blade as a weapon.

Raid teen said phone was gun

A DRUNK teenager pretended a mobile phone was a gun during an attempted hold-up of an off-duty garda, the Dublin Children's Court has heard.

The boy, aged 17, pleaded guilty yesterday to attempted robbery, at Dolphin's Barn, in Dublin, on the morning of April 4 last.

Judge John O'Neill decided to give the youth a chance and granted bail to him pending sentencing. The boy was ordered to obey a curfew at his home.
