Boy (16) had heroin in court
A YOUTH who was caught in the Dublin Children's Courthouse with eight deals of heroin hidden in his boxer shorts has been remanded on bail pending sentence.
The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be identified, admitted possessing €160 worth of heroin for sale or supply.
The drugs were seized at the court on January 10.
The boy arrived thinking he had a case that day, but when he began acting suspiciously a garda decided to search him.
Eight packages of heroin were found in his boxers.
Judge Bryan Smith said: "The court will not tolerate people bringing drugs in to the court."
He adjourned sentencing until a date in May.
Soldier charged over massacre
US army sergeant Robert Bales will be charged with 17 counts of murder over the massacre of Afghan villagers.
The charges against Bales include 17 counts of murder, six counts of attempted murder and six counts of aggravated assault as well as dereliction of duty.
The 38-year-old soldier and father-of-two will be charged with going on a shooting rampage in two villages near his Southern Afghanistan military post in the early hours of March 11.
The death toll was initially thought to be 16, but has now risen to 17, including nine children.
Hilary Duff has baby boy Luca
ACTRESS Hilary Duff has announced the birth of her son on her website.
Duff writes that she and husband Mike Comrie welcomed son Luca Cruz Comrie on Tuesday night. He weighed in at 7lbs, 6oz and is the first child for the couple.
Lizzie McGuire star Duff says she and Comrie are "the luckiest parents in the world".
Online films to beat DVD use
ONLINE movie viewing in the US will exceed DVD and Blu-ray use for the first time this year, says researcher IHS Screen Digest.
Legal online viewings of films will more than double to 3.4 billion this year from 1.4bn in 2011.
Physical viewings of DVDs and Blu-ray discs will shrink to 2.4 bn from 2.6 bn, according to the forecast.
