BoI 'sorry' to Lenihan

BANK of Ireland is due to outline an apology to Finance Minister Brian Lenihan for the misleading information about bonus payments to senior officials and traders.

It is understood that the bank will also give details of all payments made to bank officials along with the apology, which could come as early as today.

Bank of Ireland was forced to engage in a lengthy review of all payments across several payroll systems. Mr Lenihan ordered an inquiry into the payments which was hampered by wrangles over what constitutes a bonus and the complex payment system.
