Boeing set to create 550 jobs

Boeing will announce plans to lease the hanger that housed the space shuttles to build similar craft that will bring people and cargo to space.

Florida governor Rick Scott's office and US President Barack Obama's administration confirmed plans for the announcement between Space Florida, the state's space agency, and Boeing.

The deal will create 140 jobs in the next 18 months and that is set to rise to 550 jobs by 2015.

Drug cartel video threat

An internet video has threatened Mexico's Zetas drug cartel with exposure of its allies in the police and media unless the gang frees a kidnapped member of the international hacker movement known as 'Anonymous' by Friday.

The message, in English and Spanish, says Anonymous knows of police officers, journalists, taxi drivers and others working with the Zetas and is "tired of the criminal group the Zetas, which is dedicated to kidnapping, stealing and extortion".

Japan lifts ban on fighter flights

Japan has lifted an order grounding its F-15 fighters after a fuel tank fell off in midair three weeks ago.

A Defence Ministry statement said an investigation determined nothing was wrong with the F-15 itself.

The grounding order was the second in three months. It was issued after an external fuel tank burst and detached from an F-15 during training in western Japan on October 7. The pilot landed the plane safely and there were no injuries.

Sesame Street goes to Pakistan

Sesame Street is coming to Pakistan but not as generations of Americans know it.

The TV show has a new cast of local characters led by a vivacious six-year-old girl named Rani who loves cricket and traditional Pakistani music. Her sidekick, Munna, is a five-year-old boy obsessed with numbers and banging away on Pakistani bongo drums, or tabla. The US is bankrolling the initiative, hoping it will improve education in the country.
